Thanks for your suggestion! I'm happy to share that we have categories for math both in our book and toy sections. You can find the math/science books at http://www.amightygirl.com/books/general-interest/science-technology (math is one of the highlighted sub-categories on the left menu).

The toy section also has an extensive STEM collection under the Science/Math section (under Toys/Games on the main menu bar at top) -- http://www.amightygirl.com/toys/toys-games/science-math. Check out the sub-categories on the left menu for our math, chemistry/physics, the human body, and more.

    Thanks again for writing in!

    Carolyn

Hi there – Thanks for writing in with your suggestion! While they aren’t currently in chronological order, we do have them sorted into historic periods. For instance, if you click on the U.S. history tab, you’ll see sub-categories for colonial history, revolutionary, etc. For world history, we’ve currently only added sub-categories where there is a large cluster of books (for instance, WWII books under European history).

We’ll definitely think about how to make this section more user-friendly in the future but I just wanted to make sure that you were aware of the sub-categories. If a user doesn’t click on U.S. History directly, she may never actually notice them.

Hope that helps and thanks again!

    - Carolyn

    Hi Kate,

The site is designed to easily allow you to sort any category by age. If you select a category – for instance, books – on the left menu bar you should see a set of different filters, one of which is ‘recommended age’ (just below category). You can filter within any sub-category as well — for example, you can click on ‘picture books’ under ‘fiction’ and filter just that group by age.

You can also use the use the search function to search for a specific topic (although I think the menu and sub-menus are generally a better way to explore the site content) and then use the filter to sort the results by age. Please let me know if you have any questions about how the age filtering works.

We’re so glad to hear that you like the site!

    All the best,
    Carolyn

    Hi Victoria!

Thanks for your message and for your fabulous idea about book clubs! Personally, I would have loved participating in a book club as a young girl.

Unfortunately, we don't have any resources prepared at this point for organizing a book club; although I think you may be able to find general how-to guides online. I would like to add that feature in the future but it will likely take a while as we're currently focused on adding about 800 new books to the site.

As for recommendations for books for 8-10 year olds, I could definitely give you suggestions but can you first tell me more about the genres that you would like to focus on (i.e., realistic/contemporary fiction, classics, historical fiction, fantasy, humor, multicultural, etc. or a mix of everything)? Let me know and I'd be happy to send you recommendations. There are lots of great selections for that age range.

Thanks again for your kind words about the site! We're so glad that you find it helpful.

    All the best,
    Carolyn

Hi there - Thanks for your note! When we posted that article, we also posted the following:

For a selection of fictional stories of other Mighty Girls or their friends with disabilities excelling, visit our "People with Disabilities" section at http://www.amightygirl.com/books/fiction/multicultural-fiction/people-with-disabilities

Did you have a chance to check out these listings? We would like to expand this section as we agree with you that it's a very important topic so if you have additional titles to recommend, please let us know.

    Thanks again!
    Carolyn

Thanks so much for the recommendations! We will definitely check them out. We are working with a pretty big backlog right now so it may take some time to add them to the site.

    Thanks again!

Hi Teresa - Thanks so much for your message! We definitely agree that transgender girls should be well-represented on site. Although we don't have much in the way of transgender books yet, I hope that you discovered our LQBTQ section at http://www.amightygirl.com/books/fiction/multicultural-fiction?cat=53. We will definitely check out the books that you mention but please note it may take us a week or two to get them up on the site as we have a pretty big back-log right now. Thanks again for the note and please send us any additional recommendations that come to mind.
