Tablet and Phone Apps for Mighty Girls:
Ignoring that screen time isn't the best use of time, know that lots of us navigate permitting it and customizing the experience for educational / and entertainment purposes.
The only place for decent reviews of kids tablet apps is Commonsense Media. They do a good job but sill have a gender bias found in wider society. For example if one tries to filter for apps for girls, ages 5-6, we get a series of fashion "dress-up" apps. While they may not put gender neutral apps in a "boy" category they aren't filtering with creating strong women in mind. My suggestion is that someone checks out various educational and entertainment apps that are appropriate for kids, and then review apps that show girls and women in a positive and empowered light.
Reviewing the huge universe of Android Apps might be daunting but it would be helpful if the focus wasn't just on apps for iphones and ipads.

I love this idea Michael! I'm currently a Master's student at USC working on my thesis which is developing a phone app that can empower young women to counter the gender bias that exists in entertainment and advertising. While my product would be leaning more towards young women 19-31 I would love to eventually skew younger with my research and development.
I'd love to hear from you and anyone what sort of things you'd love to see in an app geared towards empowering girls and embracing and developing our differences!
