recommendation: Super Lexi by Emma Lesko

Super Lexi is a great new series by Emma Lesko, about Lexi, a girl who takes the differences between herself and the other kids in her school, and sees them as "super powers."

Very empowering for kids who tend to think outside the box!

Super Lexi rocks. It's a new series with a character that kids and parents will love. Lexi is different, but Lesko shows us different can be good, and she does it without being preachy. In fact, it's very entertaining.

Lexi could be my best friend if we were both kids. Everybody that let's Lexi into their lives will thankful and smile for days

My 9 year old begged for one more chapter every night until we finished! Funny, entertaining and relatable! Lexi is inspiring in her mighty sense of who she is and courage to be herself. Looking forward to the next book!

Super Lexi is a warmly funny chapter book about a determined but misunderstood second-grader with sensory sensitivities. Lexi is stuck doing a solo in a school musical despite her phobias about “catchy tunes” and “staring eyeballs.” Though loving and supportive, the adults in her life don’t fully understand Lexi’s perspective. Comfortable in her own skin, Lexi doesn’t need external validation to trust herself. She knows that the solo is not for her and takes matters into her own hands.

With courage and humor, Lexi represents an often-misunderstood segment of the kid population – the introverts. While the book is likely to appeal to fans of the Clementine and Judy Moody books, it will be particularly empowering for kids with anxiety, autism spectrum disorder and/or sensory processing disorder.
